OUR HISTORY
Founded on September 23, 1992, the Miosótis Educational Center, a private philanthropic and public utility entity, began with a group of volunteers dedicated to working with needy communities, with the purpose of providing annual assistance, in an open environment, to 120 (one hundred and twenty) to 125 (one hundred and twenty five) extremely needy children and adolescents, of both sexes, aged between 6 and 13 years old.
This region was chosen due to the social conditions of this region.
population. With its population in a state of family breakdown,
resulting from unemployment, low self-esteem, alcoholism,
proximity to drugs and abandonment, children and
adolescents live with constant conflicts in their lives. They present a picture of malnutrition, lack of school places
public and/or with a high failure rate,
historically there has been an incidence of school dropouts.
Because of this, in some cases, children in the region become closer to the world of drugs and
prostitution perpetuating a vicious cycle.
The Institution
during these 30 (thirty)
years of existence, provided
comprehensive care for an average of
3,750 (three thousand seven hundred and fifty)
children/pre-teens and their families.
It is located next to Grota da Alegria, a
extensive area with more than 890 thousand m², in a cluster
housing resulting from the occupation of land by the plant
Mirim Waterfall, in the Benedito Bentes II neighborhood,
located 17 km from the center of Maceió, with a population
approximately 170,000 inhabitants.
It is within this context that the
MIOSÓTIS EDUCATIONAL CENTER as a way of intervening
in this reality, it develops work through elementary school activities, from 1st to 5th grade for children and adolescents, always aiming
be present with children and their families so that they
the hardships they experience are mitigated.
